Climbing Mt. Fuji

Can I climb Mt. Fuji in the winter?

Climbing Mt. Fuji is only permitted during the official climbing season, which runs from early July to early September.

Outside this period, including during the winter, trails and huts are closed, and attempting to climb the mountain is extremely dangerous due to harsh weather conditions.

Fatal accidents have also occurred involving, even experienced climbers who were knowledgeable and well-equipped.
